عمان، 19 شباط / فبراير 2020 - بناءً على دعم اليابان طويل الامد للاجئين السوريين في الأردن، أعلنت حكومة اليابان عن مليون دولار إضافية للمفوضية السامية للأمم المتحدة لشؤون اللاجئين للعام الـ 2020. مخصصة لتوفير أنشطة داخل المراكز المجتمعية في مخيمي الزعتري والازرق للاجئين السوريين، وهذا التمويل الجديد يعني بأن اللاجئين سيظلون قادرين على الحصول على التدريب المهني في المهارات إلى جانب مساحة آمنة حيث يمكنهم ممارسة الرياضة والالتقاء بأصدقائهم.

 

في الذكرى التاسعة للأزمة السورية وإستمرار النزوح المستمر يترك اللاجئين في خطر التعرض للشعور بالعزلة بدون دعم المجتمع المضيف، وأصبحت المخاوف المتعلقة بالصحة العقلية شائعة مع نضال الأسر من أجل تلبية احتياجاتهم الأساسية. لذلك فإن وجود هيكل قوي لدعم المجتمع أمر ضروري لمساعدة الأسر الضعيفة على مواجهة التحديات اليومية. خلال السنوات القليلة الماضية، كان دعم اليابان للاجئين أمر مهم في تمكين المفوضية من إدارة المراكز المجتمعية في مخيمات اللاجئين.

 

تقديراً لمساهمة اليابان المستمرة للاجئين، علق ممثل المفوضية في الأردن دومينيك بارتش:

"يتفهم شعب اليابان لماذا لا يزال اللاجئون في الأردن بحاجة إلى دعمنا. تعد قيمة المساحة الآمنة حيث يمكن للاجئين من جميع الأعمار أن يتعلموا ابراز إبداعاتهم وأن يكونوا أعضاء نشطاء في المجتمع أمرًا بالغ في الأهمية. إن التزام اليابان الطويل الأمد نحو المراكز المجتمعية في مخيمي الزعتري والأزرق قد سمح للمفوضية بتفهم احتياجات اللاجئين بشكل أفضل، من خلال تقديم خدمات استشارية للحماية، ودعم خدمات الرعاية النفسية والعاطفية."

"تقدر اليابان كرم واستعداد حكومة وشعب الأردن لاستقبال أعداد هائلة من اللاجئين. ونحن نقدر أيضًا الدور المهم للمفوضية وجهودها في تقديم الخدمات المختلفة مثل الحماية والرعاية الصحية والتدريب للحصول على عمل للاجئين السوريين. دعمت اليابان باستمرار أنشطة المفوضية في الأردن منذ بداية الأزمة السورية، واليوم نجدد التزامنا بمساعدة اللاجئين المستضعفين في المخيمات من أجل ضمان كرامتهم."

Japan renews its commitment to Syrian refugees in Jordan

 

Amman, 19 February 2020 - Building upon its long-term support to Syrian refugees in Jordan, the Government of Japan has announced an additional $1 million for UNHCR, the UN refugee agency, in 2020. Dedicated to providing activities within community centres in Zaatari and Azraq refugee camps, this new funding means that refugees will continue to be able to access vocational and skills-based trainings alongside a safe space where they can play sport and meet with friends.

 

As the Syrian Crisis marks its ninth anniversary, ongoing displacement leaves refugees at risk of feeling isolated without the support of a community and mental health concerns are becoming increasingly common as families struggle to meet their basic needs. A strong community support structure is therefore essential in helping vulnerable families cope with daily challenges. For the last few years, Japan’s support to refugees has been critical in enabling UNHCR to run its network of community centres in refugee camps.

 

In recognition of Japan’s continued contribution to refugees, UNHCR Representative in Jordan Dominik Bartsch commented:

 

"The people of Japan understand why refugees in Jordan still need our support. The value of a safe space, where refugees of all ages can learn, express their creativity and be an active member of the community is paramount. Japan’s long-standing commitment to our community centres in Zaatari and Azraq has allowed UNHCR to better understand refugees needs, by providing in-depth protection counseling, mental and emotional welfare support and services.”
