Inflation slightly up in first 8 months of 2019
جهينة نيوز -The Consumer Price Index, a measure of inflation, inched up by a slight 0.3 percent in the first 10 months of the current year (2019), according to official data.
The increase was attributed to rising prices of rents by 0.42 percent; vegetables and dry and canned legumes by 0.19 percent; cereals by 0.2 percent; education 0.1 percent and culture and entertainment by 0.04 percent, the figures by the Department of Statistics revealed.
Commodity groups that saw their prices declining included transportation (0.22pc); dairy products and eggs (0.17pct); meat and poultry (0.12pct); and tobacco products by 0.1 percent.
