10 arrested on drug-related charges countrywide
Anti-Narcotics Department (AND) arrested ten suspects in a sweep across the Kingdom in the past 24 hours, according to the Public Security Department (PSD).
A PSD Spokesperson said Tuesday that officers carried out raids in Amman, Karak, Jerash, Ramtha, and Balqa governorates.
Acting on a tip-off about suspicious persons and people wanted on drug-related offenses, AND personnel raided four homes in Karak and apprehended four men, one of whom is of an Arab nationality, and seized quantities of drugs, he added.
In Jerash, a drug bust resulted in the arrest of two men and the seizure of 7 blocks of Hashish and 2,000 narcotic pills, while in Deir Alla in Balqa Governorate, three suspects were nabbed as they were in possession of drugs following a tip-off, according to the spokesman.
In the capital, officers searched the home of a drug dealer known to police and found 2 blocks of Hashish, 40 packs of the same drug ready for sale and 450 pills, he added.
Further north, officers In Ramtha received a tip-off about a briefcase in a public area, which contained 159,000 narcotic pills. They opened an investigation to identify and arrest the persons involved.
