Higher Population Council reaffirms empowerment of rural women
جهينة -The Higher Population Council on Monday reiterated Jordan's pledge to promote the development of rural women through its commitment to the 2030 Sustainable Development Goals, the Program of Action of the 1994 International Conference on Population and Development, the Beijing Platform for Action and other relevant international resolutions.
In a statement to mark the International Day of Rural Women tomorrow, the council said the occasion is celebrated to recognize rural women's key role in enhancing agricultural and rural development, improving food security and eradicating poverty in their areas.
This year's celebration, it said, will focus on rural women's role in building flexibility and steadfastness to face climate change.
The statement pointed out Jordan's tremendous efforts for the economic empowerment of rural women through the Agricultural Credit Corporation, which supports rural finance projects "to make a qualitative leap" in comprehensive development in the rural and Badia regions, in addition to supporting projects to enhance productivity and various credit funds to finance small women enterprises in these underdeveloped areas.
