Government team, JTA hold more talks on teachers strike
جهينة -A government task force Saturday began a new round of dialogue with representatives of the Jordan Teachers Association (JTA) in a fresh bid to end a three-week open strike by public school teachers.
Prime Minister Omar Razzaz has asked the ministerial technical team to intensify their efforts to reach understandings with the JTA, which announced the strike to demand a 50 per cent pay hike, to ensure the return of students to classrooms nationwide.
Yesterday, Minister of Education Walid Maani, offered a proposal, including figures, to improve the condition of teachers and end the strike, but it was turned down.
