Man arrested trying to smuggle drugs he swallowed into jail

جهينة نيوز - Police said Saturday they stopped a man who swallowed hashish-filled balloons to smuggle into a correctional facility in the northern governorate of Irbid.

The man, who was previously imprisoned on multiple drug-related offenses, was in police custody after being involved in a car accident as part of a plot to re-enter jail, according to a Public Security Department statement. He was taken to hospital where doctors removed five drug-filled balloons from his bowels, the statement added.

In a similar incident, a man in Russiefah, east of Amman, was arrested as he attempted to swallow narcotics. A police search of the man's home uncovered 200 balloons of drugs, including hashish.
