Al-Balqa Applied University concluded professional international training on wastewater treatment techniques targeting operators from water utilities companies in Jordan

This activity came as a response to the directions of His Excellency University President toward achieving the university vision through smart and effective actions with tangible impact. In fact, one evident executive strategy of Al-Balqa applied University is to build the capacity of human resources in the targeted sectors especially water conservation and technologies, environmental protection, clean energy, and hence, climate change impact alleviation. Contributing to the achievement of this strategy is a core mandate of the IRCWEE - International Research Center of Water, Environment, and Energy; an innovative center acting as an arm to implement specific strategic directions and achieve well-defined goals toward achieving the university vision
The above-mentioned professional training is one among a serious of training activities of WATRA Project "Strengthening skills development for wastewater Treatment and Reuse in Agriculture in a recently established higher TVET program in Jordan” and is one training among several activities. The next training will be on Drinking Water Treatment Technologies.
Helle Frans Van der Roest and Bram Ooms, professional expert trainers from the World Water Academy delivered four days training on Wastewater Treatment Techniques with the focus on new cost and emissions efficient technologies. Twelve operators from water utilities companies in Jordan, and four academic staff from Al-Balqa Applied University participated in the training.
WATRA project is a collaboration between Al-Balqa Applied University in Jordan and IHE Delft Water Institute and the World Water Academy from The Netherlands. WATRA Project is funded by The Netherlands Ministry of Foreign Affairs, NUFFIC, under the Orange Knowledge Program (OKP)
Finally, WATRA Project is hosted by the Deanship of Scientific Research and Innovation of Al-Balqa Applied University. It is managed by Dr. Peter van der Steen, Associate Professor Associate Professor of Environmental Technology at IHE Delft in The Netherlands, and by Dr. Naser Almanaseer, Associate Professor of Civil Engineering - Hydrology and Water Resources, Al-Balqa Applied University.
Finally, the WATRA Project team thank His Excellency the University President for his encouragement and support to continue working toward a prosperous society
